Thursday's Class

Today, I have positives and negatives. I learned a great deal. That is a positive! I finished my web quest! That is a positive! I will end the class with only one assignment to complete, the prospectus. That is a positive! I agree with everyone that it would be nice not to have to write the paper, but in a way, I am glad that we are doing it. I think that Dr. Dunn will get to see work that better represents me than the presentation in class. I did all of my work and was pleased with what I did. However, when I saw the final submission, some things had been changed, so I am a little worried. I have worked very hard on this presentation; I have looked up sources three times for three different topics; I have completed all of my references and slides. However, there is just a disconnection within our group that I am worried about. That is my negative! Since I have never been a negative person, though, I will end with another positive. Tomorrow is Friday, and while I have enjoyed the class, I am glad that the end is near. I will have a long weekend to catch up on some sleep. That is a definite positive!!!!

Wednesday's Class

I am feeling a little better about our project. It is coming together, but I am still not sure how it is going to turn out. Hopefully, all will be fine. I finished my lesson plan tonight and submitted it. It took me longer than I though it would to create the four rubrics, but all that matters is that I am finished. (I did take a slight break when the massive storm came through and struck something near the hotel where I am staying. We had to go to the lobby to see the firemen and look around. It was really nothing, but it did add some excitement to the night.) I still need to finish the webquest. I am almost finished with all of the research and layout. Once that the ground work is finished, putting in the text, links, and pictures should be easy. Though I am far from finished with my work, I am going to bed tonight with a lighter heart. I look forward to tomorrow's class.

Tuesday's Class

The class today was wonderful. I have been using Word for years, but I had no idea about some of the great assets of the program. I have always used comments to add information to papers when I check them. I love Dr. Dunn showed us how to have the ability to track the changes. I will definitely use that. I also love the Smart Art! This will be wonderful for my students. Instead of having a variety of graphic organizers on hand for them, they can create their own organizers right in their Word documents! I think that this will really help some of the students get organized. On the other hand, once that the group work began in class today, I was overwhelmed again. We made another change, and now all of my work from last night is again not of any use to us. I am trying to stay positive, but I am the type of person who likes to get everything completed as soon as possible and perfectly. Now it is 10:00, and I have still have several more hours of work to do tonight. Overwhelmed for sure!!!!

Monday's Class

For some reason, I could not get into this site today in class, so I created a new blog. However, since I am in now, I will redo my blog about Monday's class and then add a new blog for Tuesday. I must say that I went home very frustrated on Monday. Our group had come up with a topic for our presentation about two weeks ago. The original suggestion was from a group member who had to drop the class before she came. The idea was great, and we all did our research, but it was just much too broad. We meet with Dr. Dunn twice during class to try to come up with how to narrow our focus, but it is quite disheartening to know that all of the work I put in the weeks before the class will not be of any help. In any event, it will all work out. It always does. Just a few late nights! :)
